We are thrilled to announce that we have secured new dates for the event, which will now be held from the 8-10 April 2021 at our host venues – La Boite Theatre Company and QUT Creative Industries, in Brisbane. Please mark these dates in your diary now!

We are all looking forward to connecting in person with our Drama Education colleagues and sharing our knowledge, practice and experiences over this extraordinary time in our collective histories.

We have included some information below to assist your planning for the rescheduled event, including information about registrations, refunds, the conference program, accommodation and our COVID-safe delivery strategy.

  • Current Registrations – automatically confirmed for 2021

If you had previously registered and paid to attend the conference in 2020, your registration will be automatically valid to attend the 2021 conference. In Term 4 we will email all Delegates to confirm their conference program and associated activities.

  • Registration Refunds

We understand that not all Delegates will be able to attend the rescheduled conference dates, and we are pleased to be able to offer full refunds to those Delegates. To request a refund please email the Conference Manager who will provide you with the paperwork to activate this process. Refunds must be requested for processing by 21 August 2020.

  • New Registrations

For those who hadn’t yet registered to attend 2020 VISION we will be opening the registrations in September 2020 for the rescheduled event. Please check our website and follow our socials for the most updated information. We will be following current government advice regarding the number of Delegates who may be able to attend the conference.

We anticipate that there may be some changes to the conference program, due to Presenter and Industry Partner availability. The Conference team will be in liaison with all our Presenters and Industry Partners to confirm all sessions over the next few weeks, and an updated program, with information about session preferences, will be released to all Delegates in Term 4.

March 16 update:

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on our conference. The advice regarding gatherings and travel has continued to evolve over the past week.

The health, safety and well-being of our members, delegates and presenters is our first priority and at this point we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Drama Australia National Conference hosted by Drama Queensland in April 2020.

We are currently working with our venue partners, the Queensland University of Technology and La Boite Theatre, to find a date later in the year. As soon as this is confirmed, we will be in touch with all members, delegates and presenters.

Thank you for your understanding. We have monitored the situation closely and at this time, we want to give our delegates and presenters as much notice as possible about the postponement of the conference especially for those who have arranged travel and accommodation, that will need to be rescheduled.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Conference Manager, Katrina at conference@dramaqueensland.org.au.

We will be in touch very soon with a new date and we look forward to seeing you in Brisbane for our postponed National Conference in late 2020!

March 11 update:

Following the advice of the Australian Government, Chief Medical Officer and Health Organisations, all public events will proceed as planned, including the Drama Australia National Conference 2020 VISION, from April 16th to 18th 2020.

This is in line with the below recommendations regarding public events:

  • public events should proceed as planned, as the risk to the general population from COVID-19 is low
  • people that are unwell with cough or fever or other respiratory symptoms should not attend public events or gatherings
  • people who have been in close contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19, or who returned from or transited through a listed higher risk country, must not attend public gatherings until 14 days after leaving the country or having contact with a confirmed case even if they are completely symptom free

These recommendations are consistent with previous “business as usual” messages conveyed by the federal Chief Medical Officer and state and territory governments.

Further to this, refunds to tickets purchased for the conference will only be refunded in the case that a delegate must self-isolate. If a delegate chooses to not attend the event, no refund will be offered.

Hand washing facilities and hand sanitiser will be available throughout the venue.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you at 2020VISION!
